Hovenweep National Monument
Located near southern Colorado’s four corners region, the Hovenweep National Monument is home to six prehistoric villages.
The impressive dwellings can be found via short drive northwest of the town Cortez.
Once there, visitors are encouraged to embark on the Hovenweep trail system and view each of the six archeological sites, including the Cajon, Cutthroat Castle, Goodman Point, the Holly, Hackbeerry and Horseshoe, and the Square Tower.
The Hovenweep visitor center offers more information on hiking trails, picnicking, and the site's historic backstory.
