Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park

Established to "preserve the works of man," the Mesa Verde National Park features 600 cliff dwellings, which are some of the best preserved in America.

The Ancestral Pueblo people lived in the dwellings from A.D. 600 to A.D. 1300.

An additional 3,000 archeological sites including mesa top pueblos, farming terraces, towers and reservoirs are also found in the park.

The park is located in the "archaeological heartland of the United States" in southwestern Colorado – just south of Cortez.
