Visiting Denver Metro Area

The Denver tradition of spring and summer baseball games with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field is a given. With the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships coming to Denver, the summer sports calendar expands. The Denver suburb of Glendale adds another dimension for sports fans. Known as Rugbytown USA, Glendale is home to Infinity Park the home field for the Glendale Raptors men’s and women’s club teams, as well as high school and youth rugby programs.

The Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships comes to Denver July 10th through 19th. Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, home of the MLS Colorado Rapids, hosts teams in the Denver suburb of Commerce City. In conjunction with the World Lacrosse Championships, the 2014 World Lacrosse Festivals are held for boy's and men's teams from around the globe featuring youth and master’s competitions.

Aurora, east of Denver just inside the Interstate 225 loop, is home to the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Park, the permanent home of the Arapahoe County Fair. It lights up for the 2014 fair July 24th through 27th, bringing fun, excitement, and tradition to Aurora. See top 4-H exhibits, hear live concerts, watch the excitement of the demolition derby, and let loose on the midway rides – it’s all at the Arapaho County Fair.

Extreme athletes gather August 3rd in Boulder, 28 miles northwest of Denver, for the 2014 Ironman Boulder triathlon. With courses set in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Ironman Boulder begins with a single loop swim in Boulder Reservoir. The bike course runs along the Front Range with a loop around Carter Lake, ending at Boulder High School, while the run takes place on a course on the Boulder Creek Trial. Cheer on finishers along Pearl Street leading to the finish.

Douglas County comes alive in August with the American summer tradition of the County fair and rodeo. The Colorado community of Castle Rock hosts the 2014 Douglas County Fair August 7th through 10th at the Douglas County Fairgrounds south of downtown Castle Rock. Two stages of entertainment, three rodeos, exhibits, and carnival makes it a visit worthwhile for all. Thirty miles south of Denver, Castle Rock is conveniently located off Highway 87.
