Visiting Denver Metro Area

Before the last of winter thaws into the rebirth of spring, make your way around the Denver area and check out a wealth of attractive sights. Ski season usually lasts into April – head to Frisco and hit the slopes at the Breckenridge Ski Resort, or visit the Winter Park Resort in Winter Park. Traveling in and around downtown Denver, you’ll find the Colorado State Capitol, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Sciences – two excellent choices when traveling with the family. Make plans to visit the Ogden Theatre on March 22nd for a live performance from popular band, Animal Collective.

This spring you might find yourself staying in downtown Denver, but there are some charming and truly pleasant suburbs like Aurora and Lakewood, each worthy of exploring. Take the family over to the Aurora History Museum for a look back at a time long gone. Make your way to the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds April 6th and 7th for the Repticon Denver Reptile & Exotic Animal Show.

Make your way through Lakewood, southwest of downtown Denver. Enjoy fine views of Bear Creek Lake Park, or the wonderful Marston Lake. Plan a visit to the Lakewood Cultural Center on March 23rd for the Dawson Wallace Dance Project. Two weeks later, on April 6th, don’t miss out on the Golden Eagle Concert Band, also at the Lakewood Cultural Center.

North of the Denver metro area is Boulder. Home to the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Fiske Planetarium and Science Center, Boulder combines the charms of small town America, with a broader landscape of things to do and see. Start your St. Patrick’s Day celebration on March 16th, at Q’s Restaurant – you’ll enjoy the event, An Irish Whiskey Dinner with Bushmills.

Make the drive into Boulder from nearby Louisville, and check out Boulder Conversations with Extraordinary People: Catherine Long Gates, live at the Chautauqua Community House on April 16th.

Aside from the charm of Denver’s suburbs, there’s rarely a dull moment in downtown Denver during spring. Head to the Denver Comedy Works and let some of the country’s top stand ups tickle that funny bone. Don’t miss Nick Thune, March 7th – 10th, catch Natasha Leggero April 11th – 13th, and in May don’t miss veteran stand up Jay Mohr, the 9th – 11th.
