Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

Located west of the Denver Metro Area, the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area offers all Dillon-bound snowboarders and skiers over 960 acres of skiable area and 109 runs. With over 350 inches of snowfall a year, the mountain is usually open from mid-October to early July – one of the longest ski seasons in the country.

The mountain is located 10 miles east of Dillon and with such an extensive ski season, is one of the most popular summer destinations for Dillon visitors.

Argo Gold Mine, Mill & Museum

First constructed in 1893, the Argo Gold Mine, Mill, and Museum is now a National Historic Site and must-see for Idaho Springs visitors. The historic Argo Tunnel helped put the site on the map, as it was used to transport ore from the mines, stretching 4.5 miles to Central City.

Today, the Double Eagle Gold mine tour, Argo mill tour, and the live demonstration of the rock drilling are fun ways to learn of this rich history. While in Idaho Springs, the "birthplace" of the Rocky Mountain Gold Rush, or the greater Denver area, take time to enjoy the hot mineral springs and nearby trout fishing.

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Covering over 600 skiable acres, Breckenridge Ski Resort is located in the historic mining town of Breckenridge in central Colorado, and offers a wide range of recreational activities. At the Breckenridge ski area, skiers have a choice of 155 ski runs, including a 25-acre terrain park. The resort's 16 lifts and gondola services over 37,000 skiers per hour.

Children's Museum of Denver

Opened in 1979, the Children's Museum of Denver offers a wide range of hands-on activities and interactive exhibits for children to discover and explore while visiting the Denver area. Popular exhibits include: 3, 2, 1... Blast Off!, the Assembly Plant, Click Clack Train Track, and ARTS a la Carte.

The museum also hosts year-round family events – two of which are the Bunny Trail EggVenture and Snack with Santa. This Denver museum has 10,000 square feet of adaptable space available for birthday parties, meetings, fund raisers, receptions, and family reunions.

Buit in 1894, the Colorado State Capitol is located on Colfax Avenue in downtown Denver.

Beautiful Colorado Rose Onyx, a rare rose-colored marble, was used throughout the interior.

The Rotunda features 16 stained glass windows, known as the Hall of Fame, honoring the state's earliest pioneers.

Copper Mountain Ski Area

A popular destination for all visitors headed to Dillon, the Copper Mountain Ski Area offers over 125 runs spread throughout 2,465 acres of skiable area. Located just off Interstate 70 in the Denver metro area, the mountain receives over 310 inches of snow a year and is usually open between November and April.

Aside from skiing and snowboarding, visitors can also go ice skating, snowshoeing, tubing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and much more. If you're visiting in the summer, take advantage of scenic lift rides, hiking trails, bungee jumping, go-karting, and paddle boat rentals.

Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Dillon Nature Preserve

Dillon Reservoir

Also known as Dillon Lake, Dillon Reservoir is a recreation area owned and operated by Denver Water. Dillon Reservoir straddles the towns of Dillon, where it is located, and Frisco Bay.

Dillon Reservoir’s approximately 27 miles of shoreline can be accessed by boat via marinas in both Dillon and Frisco Bay. Boats, kayaks, and other watercraft are available for rent, however swimming and water skiing are not permitted.

The lands surrounding the reservoir offer beautiful scenery and an opportunity to enjoy nature with hiking and biking available in the summer and ice fishing and hunting in the winter months. Dillon is easily accessible from many locations due to its close proximity to the Denver area.

Completed in 1884, the Georgetown Loop Railroad is a historic, engineering marvel, bringing passengers from Georgetown to Silver Plume.

Take a ride and don't miss the horseshoe curves, crossing over Clear Creek on four bridges, and seeing some of best scenery outside of the Denver metropolitan area.

Visitors can also tour the historic 1870s Lebanon Silver Mine at the halfway point of the trip.

Outlets at Silverthorne

Located in the heart of Summit County near the Denver Metro Area, the Outlets at Silverthorne offer savings on hundreds of designer name brands. Sapphire Point

Overlooking the Blue River Arm of the Dillon Reservoir, Sapphire Point is known as one of the most scenic overlooks in the Denver Metropolitan Area. The point is a day-use area which can be reserved at two-hour blocks for public gatherings.

Located six miles away from Dillon, the point is a popular wedding spot for Summit County visitors. Be sure to catch a glimpse of alpine wildlife, including bighorn sheep and bull elk, which navigate the scenic rocks around the point.
