Collegiate Peaks Stampede Rodeo

An award-winning rodeo, the Collegiate Peaks Stampede Rodeo is one of the oldest in Colorado. The action takes place Friday and Saturday night at the Buena Vista rodeo grounds, near Denver. Cowboys and cowgirls compete in team roping, barrel racing, tie-down roping, bareback riding, saddle bronco riding, bull riding, and breakaway roping.

Collegiate Peaks is one of several sanctioned rodeos in the state, where competitors earn points to qualify for the finals in Grand Junction. Kids enjoy mutton bustin' and riding steers. The rodeo queen, first attendant and princess have fun riding in the parade on Saturday morning.
