Visiting Northern Colorado
Summer is the season to explore northern Colorado. During no other time of the year is the weather better for explorations through the region’s parks and outdoor destinations – from the obvious, like Rocky Mountain National Park, to the lesser known, like North Sterling State Park. What’s more, communities from Sterling to Fort Collins to Craig are gearing up for more excitement than ever with this season’s special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities.
Take in northern Colorado’s unmatched landscape on a scenic driving tour this summer. Grand Junction, Clifton, and Craig visitors are just a day trip away form Dinosaur National Monument and Colorado National Monument, Estes Park is a convenient launch pad for a Rocky Mountain adventure, and Fort Collins makes a great place to cool off with a cold one after a long day on the trails. Always a lively community, Fort Collins is home to New Belgium Brewery, Odell Brewery, Fort Collins Brewery, and the Budweiser Brewery, which is open for tours.
Music is in the air over Boulder. Part of the Denver Metro Area but maintaining a personality all its own, Boulder hosts the 2016 Bands on the Bricks concert series in the downtown area, featuring beer and wine gardens and family-friendly activities. The concerts are held on Wednesdays, starting at 5:30 p.m. through August 3rd.
Sterling gets in on the action, July 8th through 29th, with the 2016 July Jamz series. That’s when the Logan County Court House Gazebo in Sterling hosts family-friendly concerts every Friday evening, starting at 6 p.m. Even better, the concerts are free.
Of course, nothing says summer in Colorado like rodeo action. Countless competitions keep cowboys busy throughout the summer season, and it all culminates in the 2016 Colorado Pro Rodeo Association State Finals in Denver, September 16th through 18th. Get your tickets to be a part of it all before they sell out.
That same weekend, Sterling celebrates the upcoming fall with the 2016 Sugar Beet Days. It’s two days of fun and games, music, food, crafts, and more, all across Main Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. The festivities typically get underway at about 10 a.m. on September 17th and 18th.
